Explaining profile fields

The short version

Every profile needs at minimum a full name and a primary instrument. Everything else is optional, though some fields unlock features like Calendar birthdays and cohort statistics.

What are the optional fields for?

Fields like nationality, based-in location, cohort or group, teacher, prize, role, and website let you store more about each artist and filter your directory by them. For example, you can use the additional information to show all records of artists of a particular nationality.

Which fields unlock extra features?

Two fields do:

• Date of birth: birthdays then appear on the Calendar, and you get a reminder so you can reach out on the day.
• Completion year: you can filter by it and see statistics by cohort year.

How do optional fields appear in the profile editor?

To keep the form tidy, an optional field shows once it's in use: fill it in for one profile, and it appears for all of them. You can also add any of the suggested fields yourself with Add field in the profile editor.

Where do contact details go?

Email, phone, and postal address details are optional too. These fields are found in the Contact details tab on each profile.
